How to reach Guwahati?
Guwahati is the well-connected by air, rail and road to all major cities and even smaller towns in India. The most convenient and cheapest way is by train. Do check the IRCTC website for trains arriving at Guwahati. Due to current covid scenario, inter-state road transport is not operational.

Is Ola and Uber available in Guwahati ?

YES, Ola, Uber cabs, autos and bikes services are extremely smooth and easily available. Besides also share autos., e-autos. Local buses are again frequent, cheap and easily available. Pink buses offering free transport service to women is also a feather in the cap.

Do I need a tour operator for sightseeing in Guwahati?

With so many local conveyance options, commuting within the city is fun, and you can easily cover a 3 day tour of Guwahati completely on your own, with the help of google maps.

Guwahati is a transit hub, incase you wish to visit other places in the northeast- like Meghalaya, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh. There is no doubt you will spend at least a day or 2 here, so make that 3. This blog will guide you through a 3 day Guwahati tour itinerary that will cover most places, while getting a feel of the places.

DAY 1 - दिन 1

Kamakhya Temple | कामाख्या मंदिर

Is an important temple so start the day early to avoid the long queues, and get a darshan of goddess Kamakhya.

Guwahati Passenger Ropeway

This ropeway connects Guwahati city to North Guwahati across the Brahmaputra river. The Passenger ropeway passes over the Umananda temple which is located on a small island. Ticket costs: Rs.100/ round trip & Rs.60/ one-way trip.
Visit the 'Doul Govinda temple' on the northern bank, it's an easy walk of 10 -15 mins to the the temple so avoid the auto guys. गुवाहाटी यात्री रोपवे ब्रह्मपुत्र नदी के पार गुवाहाटी और उत्तरी गुवाहाटी को जोड़ता है। यात्री रोपवे एक छोटे से द्वीप पर उमानंद मंदिर के ऊपर से गुजरा था। टिकट की लागत: Rs.100 / गोल यात्रा और Rs.60 / एक-तरफ़ा यात्रा | उत्तरी तट पर 'डौल गोविंदा मंदिर' पर जाएँ

A visit to Umananda temple

Umananda temple is located on tiny island within the Brahmaputra. Ferry service ply to and fro from the ferry point at Guwahati.

The show timings are 4pm & 5pm, worth visiting.

1- Assam State museum
2- Teen jhadi temple
3- Saraighat bridge (evening sunset)

DAY 3 - दिन 3

1- Bamboo bridge, Khanapara 2- Srimanta Shankerdeva kshetra 3- Bipanan khetra for local assamese food 4- Walking down Christian basti

Day 2 tour will give you an idea of how truly underrated this city is. The Newly built footover bridges, not so crowded luxurious malls makes it far more livable as compared to other places in India.
